Prairie Grove Chapel After the Fire
Sunlight on a cold November day streams into the little white chapel at the Prairie Grove Cemetery in the Waynedale area of Fort Wayne, Indiana several months after the fire that damaged the building in March of 2008. Workmen restoring the little church have torn up some of the water and fire damaged carpet and pushed the pews to one side. Restoration began with the replacement of the roof in November, 2008. Work was then stopped because of the winter.

See the rest of my photographs of the Church in the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Waynedale

As a child we were told by our parents that the land for Prairie Grove was donated my our family (Mason). If you look directly behind the chapel you will see all of the Mason headstones.
Thank you for the pictures. Do you have any pictures of the chapel before the damage?

Thanks!

I have always loved this little church. We moved to Waynedale when I was 6 years old (I am now 50). Over the years I lived in other states but I have been back for 5 years and it’s was so nice to see that little church. It was like coming home. I’m also glad they decided to fix up after the fire. I was so afraid they would just tear it down.
The Christmas programs were also very nice. I hope they continue to have that every year. It just put you in more of the christmas spirit. I loved how everybody came together for that little church. It just shows there are still caring, loving people around.
