Save The New York Central Freight House

The old New York Central Railroad Freight House at the corner of Clinton Street and Fourth Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana has sat empty and boarded up for decades. Recently, the property’s owner decided to demolish the century old structure. This decision prompted the formation of a community protest group that setup a website and Facebook group to gather support for saving the building. On the morning of May 21, 2010 a group of local historic preservationists held a protest along Clinton Street in front of the old Freight House. These are some of the photographs that I made that morning. More will be added soon.

The owners of the property decided to postpone the demolition to allow time for community groups and the city to formulate a redevelopment plan for the historic building!
