Three photographs that I made of my son, MacKenzie, last Friday.

This is actually the first of two photographs that I made of my son, MacKenzie, in the late afternoon on March 19, but I put the second one online first, in my last post. He and I were getting cold outside when we did this one, so we moved inside to do the one in my previous post.

I made this photograph of my son on a cold afternoon a couple of weeks ago while I was testing a lens that I had sent off for repair because it wasn’t focusing accurately. He was pretty tired of being my test guinea pig by the time I made this image at the end of the roll.

I made this portrait of my son, MacKenzie, on Valentine’s Day.

I made this portrait of my son, MacKenzie Crawford, on the evening of September 9 as the sun was getting ready to set.

Here is another of my older photos of my son, MacKenzie Crawford. This was made last December when I was testing a new film. My son makes a good guinea pig for equipment tests! He was 10 years old when I made this photograph.

I took my son to the fireworks on the 4th of July this year. My girlfriend and I took our cameras and photographed the crowds, and of course I made several photographs of MacKenzie. He finally got annoyed with my photographing, as you can see in this photograph from that evening.

Catrina got a great photograph of my son and I together that evening as well. I have few photographs of Mack and I together because I am the one with the camera most of the time. This is one of the best that I have of us!

This photograph of my son, MacKenzie Crawford, was made last month on the day that I made the photographs of the clothespins at an abandoned farmhouse near Fort Wayne. My son had stayed with me several days and he came along when I went out photographing. I made this quick portrait that afternoon while my girlfriend was photographing an old building.

I have also created a new project category on my main website for my portraits of MacKenzie. I have made hundreds of photographs of him over the years, and several of them have been on display in my Portraits category. I’ve decided to give him his own page, which I will be adding more to soon. I have many more photographs of him to scan and some new ones that I made on the 4th of July this year!

I made this quick portrait of my son, MacKenzie Crawford, last weekend when he was staying with me. I don’t usually talk about the equipment I use, as the cameras are just tools that I use, but this one was unusual and it illustrates the fact that good photographs can be made without having the latest equipment.
This photograph was made with a 50 year old Agfa Isolette II, a rather primitive camera that has no light meter (you guess exposure, or use a handheld meter) and you focus by guessing the distance to the subject and setting that distance on the lens!
The camera was a gift from a member of the Analogue Photography Users Group, a web forum for people who use film (preferably with old cameras). He restored several of these and gave them to fellow APUG members. I was lucky enough to be one of those who received one. Thanks John!

After I picked MacKenzie up in Fort Wayne back in July, we headed down Interstate 69 toward Indianapolis. I stopped to photograph something along the highway and Mack got out to play with his Star Wars lightsaber. My son is a huge Star Wars fan!
